E-agency strikes gold with printing cards promotion

OAKLAND, Calif. - E-agency has won a gold and Best of Division award from the 2003 Bay Area Advertising and Marketing Association's "Addy" Awards for an educational card promotion developed for Madison Street Press - one of the oldest printing companies in Oakland.

"We've won several other Addy awards this year and in the past, but to win a Best of Division is a real honor," said Dave Dunn, e-agency chief executive officer. The Bay Area's best advertising, graphics, public relations and Web development agencies submitted more than 400 entries. Just 14 were awarded "Best of Division" citations.

An e-mail newsletter, produced by e-agency for the California Water Environment Association, based in Oakland, called the "E-Bulletin," also won a bronze award in the same competition.

Madison Street's educational cards - 26 in all - cover the A-to-Z's of printing tips. The cards were sent by mail in partial batches to Madison Street's clients and prospects over the course of the eight-week campaign, until each recipient received a full set. The cards were printed (by Madison Street, of course) with striking graphics on one side and educational copy on the other.

Peter Murai, Chief Executive Officer of Madison Street Press, said he and his staff are continually asked a wide range of questions involving techniques of fine printing, so he was tickled when e-agency developed a solution that was both promotional and educational.

The team involved with the project included Michele Conner, e-agency's vice president for creative services, Maja Brugos, designer, and the entire marketing, sales and production staffs at Madison Street Press.

As a result of winning the Gold and best of Division awards, the e-agency entry will advance to the next level, which pits the best entries among Northern and Central California entries. Winners advance to a national competition - the American Advertising Awards.

Winners of the Bay Area awards were announced at the Addy Awards Party at the Oakland Museum of California on Thursday (March 6.)

AdMark - the Bay Area Advertising and Marketing Association - is one of 200 ad clubs across the United States that are members of the American Advertising Federation.

E-agency, founded in 1990, is a full-service interactive marketing communications agency (www.e-agency.com) located In Jack London Square, Oakland.
